El Tour de Tucson
Tucson Boutique Hotels
It is said, “The journey is worth the reward.” At Lodge on the Desert we feel that way when it comes to El Tour de Tucson. 2013 is the 31st Annual ride and it takes place Saturday, November 23. So whether that bicycle journey is one of 109, 80, 66 or 35 serious miles or an 8, 4 or 1/4- mile fun ride, it makes no difference. Neither does your overall journey’s starting point — either in-state or out-of-state.
What we know for sure is whether you’re a bicyclist or spectator, Tucson is the place to be the weekend prior to Thanksgiving! Plus Lodge on the Desert, located in mid-town, is the centrally-located accommodation from which to navigate the Old Pueblo during your stay. It’s near to the colorful, impressive downtown start of the race… less than five miles and twelve minutes away. How convenient! Yet Lodge has a truly resort feel… from the super comfortable beds right down to the chef’s farm-to-table cuisine, served indoors or out on the expansive patio. Prepare for and celebrate your own race accomplishments or those of others. What a way for riders and spectators to ‘do’ el Tour!
El Tour is a fun ride attracting over 9,000 cyclists of all ages and abilities from throughout the United States and beyond, including novice, intermediate, advanced and professional riders. Southwest Airlines’ in-flight magazine, Spirit (June 2001) named El Tour de Tucson “one of the premier organized rides in United States,” and Bicycling Magazine (October 2002) ranked El Tour as “one of the top three fundraising rides” in the country.
